Chris Ramsey: 'Queens Park Rangers can't afford to be cut adrift'

Chris Ramsey admits that QPR must remain within touching distance of safety heading into the final weeks of the season, or else they will have "a big mountain to climb".

Queens Park Rangers boss Chris Ramsey has targeted three more victories before the end of the season in order to secure his side's place in the Premier League.

The R's have boosted their hopes of avoiding relegation over the past few days by claiming four points from their away meetings against West Bromwich Albion and Aston Villa.

QPR are now within two points of safety, although they must still take on Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City in the coming weeks.

Asked what is required to beat the drop, Ramsey is quoted by talkSPORT as saying: "I don't know what we need but we're probably going to have to win three games.

"I don't know what the points total will be but our two home games are going to be very important after Chelsea. We have got a couple of very difficult ones in Liverpool and Manchester City and then we have the potential cup final against Leicester on the last day of the season.

"Most teams would take being in it right to the end and then roll the dice, you don't want to start being detached because it's a big mountain to climb."

Rangers came within seven minutes of claiming a valuable victory on the road at Villa Park last night, only for Christian Benteke to rescue a point for his side late on in an entertaining 3-3 draw.
