Heidar Helguson has signed a new one-year deal to remain with Queen’s Park Rangers.
The Icelandic striker, who last month said he was “hopeful” of staying at Loftus Road, has had his term extended after scoring 13 goals in the Rs’ Premiership-clinching season.
“I’m absolutely delighted,” he told the club’s official website. “My future lies here. I wasn’t sure what was going to happen when I came back last season, but I spoke to Neil [Warnock] and he wanted me to stay.”
“Heidar made a massive contribution last year, and he’ll play a big role again for us in the top flight next season,” manager Warnock said of the former Fulham player.
“He’s also got the experience of having played in the Premier League, so I’m delighted we’ve managed to agree a new deal with him.”
