Queens Park Rangers midfielder Joey Barton has criticised Fabio Capello's team selection, claiming that the Italian doesn't pick players "based on form".
The 29-year-old, who joined QPR from Newcastle this summer, believes that he deserves to be included in the England set-up based on his current form in the Premier League.
"[The selection] can't be based on form because I've been as good as anyone over the last 18 months," Barton told talkSPORT. "I have to be in the squad.
"But what do I do about it? Sit around moping or just get on with it and do the best I can for my club?
"At the end of the day, I don't think I'm going to be the difference between England winning a European Championship and them not."
Despite only playing for the Three Lions once in his career four years ago, the former Manchester City player has not given up on getting his second cap.
"I'll just play as well as I can for my club and if it happens it happens, and if it doesn't..."
Meanwhile, Capello's men need one point against Montenegro tonight to guarantee qualification to the Euro 2012 competition.
