Thiago Silva: 'I'm enjoying the best period of my career at Paris Saint-Germain'

Paris Saint-Germain captain Thiago Silva states that he is currently enjoying the best spell of his career while playing at the heart of the club's defence.

Paris Saint-Germain skipper Thiago Silva has suggested that he is enjoying the best spell of his career at the Ligue 1 champions.

The Parisians have stormed into a huge lead at the top of the standings, while Silva has led his back-four to the best defensive record in the league so far this term.

"I honestly think this is the best period of my career," Silva told This Is Paris.

"It's incredible, because everyone says, 'Oh, he's old, he's 31, he's already at the end of his career.' But I honestly believe that I can play for another five or six years.

"We'll have to wait and see what happens, because there's no point in just playing for the sake of it - that's no good. If you keep playing, you have to do it because you have a goal... a dream."

PSG now hold a 15-point gap over second-placed Lyon at the top of Ligue 1.
