Laurent Blanc: 'David Luiz was not 100% fit'

PSG coach Laurent Blanc concedes that David Luiz was not 100% fit following his much-maligned display in their 3-1 Champions League defeat to Barcelona.

Paris Saint-Germain coach Laurent Blanc has admitted that defender David Luiz was not 100% fit in last night's 3-1 Champions League defeat to Barcelona.

The Brazilian came under fire for his display at Parc des Princes as goals from Neymar and a brace from Luis Suarez helped the Catalans place one foot in the semi-finals.

Suarez nutmegged Luiz in the build-up to both of his goals, with Glenn Hoddle claiming that the former Chelsea man defended like an "eight-year-old".

However, Blanc says that an injury to Thiago Silva, who came off for the 27-year-old after 21 minutes, forced his hand.

"The injury to Thiago Silva was the start of our problems," Les Parisiens' coach told a post-match press conference in Paris. "We had to replace him with a player who was not 100% fit."

PSG travel to Catalunya for the return leg at Camp Nou on Tuesday.
