Cristiano Ronaldo is rated '50-50' to appear in Portugal's final World Cup group game against South Korea after returning to training on Thursday.

Cristiano Ronaldo has returned to training ahead of Portugal's final World Cup 2022 group game against South Korea.

The forward has started Portugal's opening two matches at the tournament, scoring from the penalty spot in the 3-2 win over Ghana.

Ronaldo thought that he had found the net in the 2-0 victory against Uruguay, but the goal was awarded to Bruno Fernandes after replays suggested that the 37-year-old had failed to make contact with the ball.

As a result, he is still one strike away from joining Eusebio as Portugal's joint-highest scorer at the World Cup with nine goals.

There is doubt as to whether Ronaldo will have the chance to move level with Eusebio against South Korea, after the forward missed team training on Wednesday, instead taking part in an individual session.

Portugal received a boost on Thursday, though, when Ronaldo was fit enough to link up with his teammates and return to full training.

Despite taking part in training, Portugal boss Fernando Santos claimed in his pre-match press conference that Ronaldo was '50-50' whether he would feature against South Korea on Friday.

Having already secured a place in the last 16, the Selecao are looking to top their group, but Santos could decide to rest a number of players.
