Shrewsbury Town re-sign Portsmouth striker Luke Rodgers on an initial loan deal until January.

Luke Rodgers has secured a return to Shrewsbury Town by joining the club from League One rivals Portsmouth.

The transfer will initially be on a loan basis until January, when Rodgers will sign on a permanent deal from the end of the season.

Rodgers began his career at Shrewsbury, spending six years in Shropshire between 1999 and 2005, before leaving for spells at Crewe Alexandra, Port Vale and Notts County among others.

The 30-year-old then joined Pompey in the summer, but has not started a league game for them since September.

Shrewsbury made room for Rodgers in their forward ranks by allowing Terry Gornell to move to Rochdale on loan earlier today.
