South Africa international defender Aaron Mokoena departs Portsmouth after having his contract terminated by mutual consent.

Portsmouth defender Aaron Mokoena has had his contract terminated by mutual consent.

The 31-year-old, who had 12 months remaining on his four-year deal, agreed to accept the cash-strapped club's offer of a settlement and he is now poised to join South African outfit Bidvest Wits.

Pompey administrator Trevor Birch said: "We appreciate his efforts in making this happen and wish him every success in South Africa."

Mokoena made 77 league appearances during three seasons at Fratton Park.
