Adam McGurk: 'Starting games for Portsmouth all that counts'

Portsmouth forward Adam McGurk admits that he "does not really care" where he plays, as long as he is given a chance to impress at his new club.

Adam McGurk has declared that he does not care which position he is fielded in as long as he can help Portsmouth's promotion charge.

The summer signing from Burton Albion found the net on the weekend in his first league start of the season.

Having been tasked with leading the line against Barnet, a game Portsmouth went on to win 3-1, McGurk says that he is simply happy to be out on the field.

"If you're out on the pitch and winning then you don't really care where you are," he told the club's official website. "I don't think I actually know my best position, so I'll just go wherever the manager wants to use me.

"Going a goal down was a bad start, but we showed good character to fight back and get the victory. We really need to win because the previous two home games hadn't gone the way we wanted.

"We were up against big and physical defenders and didn't play as well as we can, although created quite a few chances in the second half. Hopefully as the season goes on and we train together more as a team, then we can improve further."

McGurk scored 15 goals in 71 appearances for former side Burton.
