Half-Time Report: Yacine Brahimi fires Porto ahead

A free kick from Yacine Brahimi gives Porto a 1-0 lead over Basel in the second leg of their Champions League tie, leaving them 2-1 ahead on aggregate.

A free kick from Yacine Brahimi has given Porto a 1-0 lead over Basel in the second leg of their Champions League tie, putting the Portuguese side 2-1 up on aggregate.

After dominating possession in the opening 10 minutes, the home side took the lead when Brahimi curled the ball in from a free kick 20 yards out, leaving the keeper rooted to the spot.

Casemiro had a chance to double the advantage just a few minutes later when he spotted the keeper off his line, but his long-range effort was a fraction high.

There were worrying scenes for Porto shortly after when Danilo was floored by an accidental clash with teammate Fabiano, forcing the captain off just 20 minutes in.

Marco Streller tried to create something for the visitors, but chances for Basel remained few and far between as he blasted his driven shot well high.

Vincent Aboubakar could have doubled Porto's lead when he volleyed the ball towards the goal from range, only to see it swerve wide, while a dangerous cross from Cristian Tello was cleared, leaving Porto with a narrow lead at the break.
