Gaston Fernandez struck in the 85th minute to snatch the 10-man Portland Timbers a draw in their MLS clash with the Columbus Crew.
The Timbers took the lead in the fifth minute as Maximiliano Urruti collected Steve Zakuani's through-ball inside the box and smashed the ball into the roof of the net.
Columbus responded in spectacular fashion as Federico Higuain scored a brilliant goal, as he chipped the ball over Donovan Ricketts from 25 yards out to gets his side level.
Portland were reduced to 10 men in the 34th minute when Alvas Powell went in late on Chad Barson and sent him flying into the air. As a result, the 19-year-old was given a straight red card.
The visitors took the lead just before the break when they were awarded a penalty as Mamadou Danso brought down Giancarlo Gonzalez in the area. Higuain took the spot kick and found the bottom corner with ease.
Columbus should have extended their lead after half time when Higuain put Hector Jimenez in behind the Timbers' defence, but his volleyed effort clattered off the post.
The home side made the Crew pay for this missed opportunity when they equalised in the 80th minute when Will Johnson pounced on a loose ball in the penalty area and fired past Steve Clark.
However, Columbus retook the lead immediately as Ethan Finley fired a shot at goal which took a deflection off Danso and found the net.
Portland weren't to be denied the point they deserved though as they made one last late push and they got their reward when Fanendo Adi headed the towards goal and Fernandez turned it home from close range.
