Preview: Platense vs. Central Cordoba - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Tuesday's Argentine Primera Division clash between Platense and Central Cordoba, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Looking to maintain their unbeaten start to the 2022 Argentine Primera Division season, Platense welcome Central Cordoba to the Estadio Ciudad de Vicente Lopez.

Meanwhile, the away side make the trip to Buenos Aires in need of a lift as they go in search of their first victory in four outings.

Match preview

Platense were held to a consecutive share of the spoils courtesy of a 1-1 draw against Arsenal Sarandi at the Estadio Julio Humberto Grondona on Saturday.

Carlos Martinez's men took the lead through Ayrton Costa in the early exchanges of the second half before Facundo Kruspzky levelled matters in the 77th minute.

Los Escualos have now dropped to sixth place in the standings, although they remain just two points shy of current leaders Newell's Old Boys.

Their next assignment sees them face off against an opposing outfit who have only lost one of the previous five meetings between the teams since 2019.

Off the back of three straight stalemates in front of their own fans, Tuesday's hosts set out to go one better and come away with all three points this time around.

Central Cordoba were beaten on home turf for the third game running following a 3-1 loss against Patronato at the Estadio Unico Madre de Ciudades on Friday.

Sergio Rondina's men fell behind to Sebastian Medina's opener before a double from Jonathan Herrera put the result beyond doubt, rendering Deian Veron's late strike inconsequential.

With just eight points amassed from as many games this term, El Ferroviario have dropped to 20th place in the league table, just three points clear of the bottom three.

Having ended a dry spell of four away games without a win in their last outing on the road, Tuesday's hosts now seek back to back victories on enemy territory for the first time in over a year.

Team News

Gonzalo Bergessio has missed Platense's last three games with a thigh injury, making the 37-year-old a major doubt for Tuesday's contest.

Nahuel Casasola is a guaranteed absentee for the home side as he misses out through a knee problem which has seen him not play in over a year.

Juan Kaprof and Matias Laba are both ruled out for Central Cordoba through, while Andres Mehring currently faces an extended spell on the sidelines.

The visitors will also have to make do without the services of goalkeeper Cesar Rigamonti whose last appearance came back in November 2021.

Platense possible starting lineup:
Ledesma; Suso, Costa, Pignani, Morgantini; Gino, Villalba; Sabella, Zarate, Schor; Contreras

Central Cordoba possible starting lineup:
Toselli; Ramirez, Pereyra, Bay, Barrionuevo; Montes, Linares, Soraire; Gonzalez, Torres, Martinez
