George Boyd fails eye test at Nottingham Forest

An angry Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony confirms that George Boyd's move to Nottingham Forest fell through over an eye problem.

Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony has revealed that George Boyd's move to Nottingham Forest fell through because he failed an eye test during his medical.

Just moments after it was announced that the deal was off, MacAnthony took to Twitter to blast Forest for the way that they had conducted themselves.

Having had time to reflect on the news, the Irishman was still angered by the Tricky Trees, whose treatment of the attacker he described as "disgusting".

"He went there for a medical this morning. He has been there all day. I got a phone call off him tonight - he's in bits. They made him do an eye test and the doctor said he had a problem with one of his eyes," he told Sky Sports News.

"George has played over 300 games for us and scored goals from the halfway line but has been told he has an eyesight problem and for that reason the owner of Forest didn't want to do a deal. It's the most ridiculous thing that has ever happened in my life. It's all been a shambles.

"This is the same player who passed a medical when he went to Forest on loan two years ago. The whole thing is just disgusting - he's been treated badly and I'm not happy about it. I'm devastated for the boy."

Boyd will now return Peterborough, where is contract is due to expire in the summer.
