Parma, Cagliari share goalless draw

Parma remain adrift at the bottom of the Serie A table, despite ending their four-game losing run with a goalless draw against fellow strugglers Cagliari.

Parma have ended a four-game losing run in Serie A by sharing a goalless draw with Cagliari this afternoon.

Paolo De Ceglie came close for the hosts in the opening five minutes, but he scuffed an effort across goal and wide of the far post after being found in the box.

Francesco Lodi was the next to threaten for Parma when he curled a low free kick from just outside of the area inches wide of the target.

Midway through the first half, Cagliari almost took the lead as Diego Farias broke clear and rounded the keeper, only to see his shot cleared off the line by Jose Mauri.

The visitors worked another decent chance five minutes into the second half, but, after being found in space, Andrea Cossu placed his effort just over the bar.

Albin Ekdal saw a late strike pushed behind by Antonio Mirante, and that proved to be as close as either side would come to breaking the deadlock late on as the game finished without a goal.

While the result ends Parma's recent run of defeats, they are still two points adrift at the bottom of the Serie A table.
