Palermo sign Alberto Gilardino

Palermo confirm the signing of former Italy striker Alberto Gilardino from Guangzhou Evergrande.

Palermo have confirmed the signing of Alberto Gilardino from Chinese Super League side Guangzhou Evergrande.

President Maurizio Zamparini revealed last week that Palermo had agreed a deal to bring the 33-year-old back to Serie A, but issues with his paperwork held up the move.

Gilardino joined Chinese champions Evergrande last summer before making a loan move to Fiorentina for the second half of last season.

The Italy international netted four goals in 14 games during his loan spell with Fiorentina, but the club decided against signing him on a permanent basis earlier this summer.

Gilardino has scored 178 goals in Serie A.
