Blackburn Rovers are reported to have made a £6m offer for Nottingham Forest striker Ben Brereton following a rejected £5m bid on transfer deadline day.

Blackburn Rovers have reportedly made a £6m bid for Nottingham Forest striker Ben Brereton.

The 19-year-old is deemed one of the brightest young talents at the City Ground, having burst onto the scene last season with his standout display in the 4-2 win over Arsenal in the FA Cup third round.

However, Forest boss Aitor Karanka left Brereton out of the matchday squad for the club's first two Championship matches of the season as well as their EFL Cup win over Bury.

The Reds are believed to have rejected an initial £5m offer for Brereton on transfer deadline day, but according to The Sun, Rovers have come back with a renewed offer.

Such a deal would entail the Lancastrians signing the teenager on loan before buying him at a later date as the window for permanent deals has closed, but loans are permitted until August 31.

The England Under-20 forward is believed to be valued at £12m by the East Midlands club.
