Craig Bellamy tips Norwich City to survive in Premier League

Former Norwich City striker Craig Bellamy is "optimistic" that the Canaries will be playing Premier League football next season, despite their recent poor form.

Craig Bellamy has backed his former club Norwich City to retain their Premier League status this season.

Yesterday's 1-0 loss away at title hopefuls Leicester City means that the Canaries have collected just one point from their last seven outings.

That form has seen Alex Neil's men drop down to 17th position, with only goal difference keeping them out of the relegation zone.

Nevertheless, Bellamy is "optimistic" that Norwich have enough quality to survive.

"Credit to Norwich yesterday. I saw enough [to suggest they can stay up]," he told Sky Sports News.

"It's going to be difficult for them - it is for any team that's been promoted. I'm quite optimistic they might stay away from [relegation] this year."

On Tuesday, Norwich play host to Chelsea, who are unbeaten in the league since Guus Hiddink took interim charge in December.
