Guus Hiddink pleased with Chelsea comeback

Interim Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink praises his side for their come-from-behind win over Southampton.

Interim Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink has praised his side after their come-from-behind win at Southampton this afternoon.

Shane Long gave the hosts a first-half lead before goals from Diego Costa and Branislas Ivanovic in the final quarter-hour handed the Blues all three points on the south coast.

The result takes Chelsea up to 11th in the Premier League table and extends Hiddink's record to just one defeat in 15 games since he took charge in December.

"I think [the result] was deserved," Hiddink told Sky Sports News. "We didn't start well in the first 20 minutes, but then we got our composure and control. We should have scored with our dominance.

"They got a present from our defence so we had a setback, but in the second half the team reacted very well, not just the mentality to recover the ball but also pushing the opposition back in their own half.

"When we started a few months ago it was about getting results. We got some draws and that was necessary because the team lacked confidence. Now they are playing and we have said we need to get wins, not just draws. We are very happy because Southampton's record is very impressive."

Up next for Chelsea is a trip to relegation-threatened Norwich City on Tuesday night.
