Brian Laws bemoans poor Scunthorpe United finishing

Brian Laws says that Scunthorpe United wasted a plethora of chances to win today's League Two clash with Northampton Town at the Sixfields Stadium.

Scunthorpe United boss Brian Laws has told his players that they need to be more clinical following today's 1-1 draw with Northampton Town.

Niall Canavan put the visiting side in front in the 67th minute at the Sixfields Stadium, but the Irons were denied all three points when Clive Platt found the net 12 minutes from time to earn a draw.

"We should have had all three points and had the game wrapped up in the first half," PA quotes Laws as saying. "I couldn't have asked for anymore except to have hit the target more.

"We had golden opportunities, not half-chances, but we didn't work their keeper enough. That's my only criticism, apart from that I thought the performance was excellent.

"There are lots of positives to take out of the game, we marshalled the game for long periods and created plenty of opportunities to finish it off, particularly in the first half. I've got a lot of faith in my strikers, they've all scored goals in their careers and we will start scoring a few goals soon, so somebody will get a hiding."

Scunny are 15th in League Two with one win, four draws and a defeat from their six games so far.
