Everton's Gerard Deulofeu: 'Players must take responsibility'

Gerard Deulofeu calls on his Everton teammates to take the responsibility for their poor run of Premier League form.

Gerard Deulofeu has insisted that the players are to blame for Everton's poor run of form of late.

Today's 2-1 defeat at home to Swansea means that Roberto Martinez's men have won just one of their last 10 Premier League matches, as well as having conceded more goals at home than any other club.

Such form has resulted in heavy criticism being aimed in the direction of the Spanish manager, but Deulofeu has stressed that the team must shoulder the responsibility.

"In the Premier League the players need to take responsibility. Today was so bad for us," he told BBC Sport.

"We play at home and when at Goodison Park, we need to make it difficult place and not concede at home. We have conceded the most at home and that is not possible for us.

"Now is the most important half of the season, the final third and we need to get three points each week."

The loss to Swansea has left Everton in 12th position, eight points above the relegation zone.
