Former England defender Sol Campbell has suggested that a retired player would be the ideal candidate to be the next president of FIFA.
Current president Sepp Blatter announced in June his plan to step down amid allegations of corruption at the organisation, with FIFA's executive committee confirming that a new president will be elected in Zurich on February 26, 2016.
Ex-Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur man Campbell, who won 73 caps for England, has claimed that Blatter's successor should be someone who has played the game at the highest level.
"There are lot of intelligent guys out there who have played football, it's just picking the right character," Campbell told Reuters.
"The right footballer with the right character, they are good team builders. They have been in pressure situations. They understand getting deals and getting deals over the line.
"They have played around the world, they have met a lot of people and they are used to talking to people with different backgrounds. That's what you want."
Former Portugal midfielder Luis Figo pulled out of the FIFA presidential race before Blatter's re-election in May.
