Rapid Bucharest strike over unpaid wages

Rapid Bucharest players go on strike in a protest over unpaid wages.

Rapid Bucharest captain Daniel Pancu has revealed that the club's players have gone on strike in a protest over unpaid wages.

The three-time Romanian champions filed for insolvency last year after running up huge debts, while they have offloaded many of their high-profile players in recent months.

Despite impressing in their domestic league in recent weeks, conceding just one goal in their last five matches, Pancu has insisted that the players will not play until action is taken.

"We will not train and we will not play our next match," he told reporters at a press conference.

As yet no official comment has been made by the club.
