A report claims that Newcastle United have sent scouts to watch Genoa forward Krzysztof Piatek up close on six occasions this season.

Genoa forward Krzysztof Piatek is being closely monitored by Newcastle United ahead of the January window, according to a report.

The 23-year-old has only spent the last five months with the Italian side, having joined from KS Cracovia in a £3m deal.

Piatek has performed well during the early stages of his first spell outside of his native Poland, netting nine times in 12 Serie A outings.

United could now make a move for the Poland international, as the Newcastle Chronicle suggests that scouts have been sent to watch him up close half-a-dozen times already this term.

Also capable of playing out wide, Piatek is believed to be valued at £14m by Genoa.
