Director of football Joe Kinnear insists that Newcastle United will not sell midfielder Yohan Cabaye this summer.

Newcastle United's new director of football Joe Kinnear has insisted that midfielder Yohan Cabaye will not be sold during the summer transfer window.

The 27-year-old has been linked with an exit from St James' Park, with Monaco believed to be keen to lure the Frenchman from the North East outfit.

"He will stay," Kinnear told the Chronicle. "We've got him under contract and we want to keep all of our top players here. We don't feel we have to sell our top stars."

Cabaye's contract at the Premier League outfit runs until 2016.
