Alan Pardew: 'We are not safe yet'

Alan Pardew believes that Newcastle United are still not safe following their 1-1 draw with West Bromwich Albion.

Alan Pardew has claimed that Newcastle United are not safe from relegation despite claiming a point from their trip to The Hawthorns to face West Bromwich Albion.

A 1-1 draw means that the Magpies are now six points clear of Wigan Athletic in 18th in the Premier League, but manager Pardew insists that his side must keep searching for wins.

When asked by BBC Sport if his team were safe, Pardew replied: "I don't think so because we have to keep working.

"Hopefully, we can get a couple more wins which will be the ideal thing."

Newcastle's next match will be at home to Liverpool in a week.
