Alan Pardew urges Newcastle United forward to prove worth against Crystal Palace

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew urges his forward to "step up" against Crystal Palace this weekend due to the absence of Loic Remy.

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has called on his attacking players to "step up" against Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Loic Remy will be absent for the Magpies, who are currently ninth in the Premier League table with as many games left to play.

"It's a major point for us, as obviously Loic Remy is not our player and he's scored most of our goals, and we're struggling to score goals without him, especially since Cabaye left as well," Pardew told the club's official website.

"It really is a process where we're looking for somebody to step up and get the goals. There'll be no Loic this weekend, so we really need Papiss, Hatem, Luuk and Gouff to come up with the goals."

Pardew will be absent from St James' Park this weekend as he serves the second of his three-match stadium ban after headbutting Hull City midfielder David Meyler earlier this month.
