Newcastle United defender Paul Dummett wins red card appeal

Newcastle United defender Paul Dummett's recent red card against Liverpool is rescinded following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing.

Newcastle United defender Paul Dummett has had his recent red card against Liverpool rescinded.

The 22-year-old was dismissed for a tackle on Luis Suarez during the Magpies' 2-1 defeat at Anfield on Sunday.

However, Dummett's appeal has been upheld following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing.

An official Football Association statement read: "Newcastle United's Paul Dummett has had his claim of wrongful dismissal upheld following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing today.

"The standard punishment has, therefore, been removed with immediate effect."

Sunday's defeat saw Newcastle finish the season in 10th place in the Premier League table.
