Newcastle United could be without striker Papiss Cisse for this weekend's Premier League clash against Swansea City due to a row with the Senegal Football Federation.
Senegal officials are believed to be prepared to use FIFA's five-day rule, which allows the governing body to suspend a player for five matches, after claiming that the Magpies did not inform the national side of Cisse's current back injury ahead of their friendly against Niger this week.
"We have a bit of an issue going on with the federation," said Pardew. "We feel we have covered all the bases to give them the information.
"But they seem not to have received it, so we are in discussions with Senegal and the FA about his availability for Saturday."
Cisse picked up the injury during Newcastle's 1-0 defeat to West Ham United at the weekend.
