The Magpies continued their positive form last month as they recorded five victories on the bounce, scoring 11 goals in the process.

After 16 games, Benitez's side remain on course to earn promotion back to the Premier League as they sit at the top of the league table, three points above Brighton & Hove Albion.

In October, the North-East outfit earned wins over Rotherham United, Brentford, Ipswich Town, Preston North End and Cardiff City in the Championship.

Benitez's men also thumped Preston 6-0 in the EFL Cup, with Aleksandar Mitrovic, Mohamed Diame, Matt Ritchie and Ayoze Perez getting on the scoresheet.

Newcastle have now recorded 12 victories, one draw and three defeats in the second tier.
