Alan Pardew is expected to make a number of changes for Newcastle United's trip to Greek side Atromitos. Here, Sports Mole previews the encounter.

Newcastle United will compete in a European competition for the first time in five years tomorrow evening.

However, the main talking point surrounding their trip to Greece is the fact that they will face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League just 48 hours later.

As a result, manager Alan Pardew is expected to rest a number of his key players for this encounter.

The striking duo of Papiss Cisse and Demba Ba will miss out on a place in the starting lineup, while Hatem Ben Arfa has been suspended for the next three matches.

There could be a full debut for Vernon Anita though, after he joined the Magpies from Ajax last week.

In hosts Atromitos, Newcastle are taking on a team that finished fourth in the Greek top flight last season.

Former Liverpool goalkeeper Charles Itandje is their first choice between the posts and is expected to start the qualifying encounter.

Atromitos: Itandje; Skondras, Fytanidis, Oikonomou, Tavlaridis, Iglesias, Ballas, Dimoutsos, Brito, Pitu; Karamanos

Newcastle: Krul; Simpson, Williamson, Perch, Santon; Gutierrez, Marveaux, Anita, Obertan, Campbell; Ameobi
