Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Newcastle United could line up for Tuesday's Champions League Group F clash with Borussia Dortmund.

Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe has suffered a fresh double injury blow ahead of Tuesday's Champions League Group F clash with Borussia Dortmund at the Signal Iduna Park.

The Magpies' 1-0 Premier League win over Arsenal at the weekend came at quite the cost, as Dan Burn landed awkwardly from a fall and was holding his back for the remainder of the first half before being taken off at the break.

Meanwhile, Jacob Murphy made a surprise appearance only a couple of weeks on from dislocating his shoulder, but the luckless winger appeared to suffer the same injury as a substitute and will surely now be consigned to the infirmary for a while.

Burn is now confirmed to be facing months out of action, and the Magpies will also be without Murphy, Matt Targett (hamstring), Alexander Isak (groin), Harvey Barnes (foot), Elliot Anderson (back), Sven Botman (knee), Sandro Tonali (suspended), and Javi Manquillo (groin) for the matchday four contest.

Murphy's problem will have little impact on Howe's attacking line, as Callum Wilson, Miguel Almiron and Anthony Gordon - whose controversial strike proved to be the difference against Arsenal - line up in the final third again.

Bruno Guimaraes - who was fortunate not to be sent off on Saturday for an elbow into Jorginho's head - picked up his fifth Premier League yellow card of the season last time out, but he will be fine to join Joelinton and Sean Longstaff in the middle in Germany.

Unless Burn makes a miraculous recovery, Kieran Trippier could be shifted out to the left-hand side on Tuesday, allowing Tino Livramento to strut his stuff on the right after winning his battle with Gabriel Martinelli at the weekend.

With Botman still missing, the reinvigorated Jamaal Lascelles will continue alongside Fabian Schar ahead of Nick Pope, who was beaten by a Felix Nmecha strike against Dortmund two weeks ago.

Newcastle United possible starting lineup: Pope; Livramento, Schar, Lascelles, Trippier; Longstaff, Guimaraes, Joelinton; Almiron, Wilson, Gordon
