New England Revolution march on with Toronto win

New England Revolution make it five wins on the spin as they beat Toronto 3-1 at BMO Field to consolidate an MLS Cup berth.

New England Revolution maintained their stunning hot streak in the Eastern Conference with a 3-1 victory at Toronto tonight.

Jay Heaps's side recorded their fifth successive win and extended their unbeaten streak to seven with a result that consolidates their MLS Cup place.

Revolution, who sit fourth, six points clear of the Canadian outfit in fifth, needed only four minutes to edge ahead when Damien Perquis bundled the ball past his own goalkeeper Chris Konopka.

They doubled that advantage on the 39-minute mark when Diego Fagundez's out-swinging curler left Konopka with no chance.

However, Toronto threw themselves a lifeline 10 minutes after the break when Robbie Findley headed home Justin Morrow's cross as they plotted a comeback.

Kelyn Rowe effectively made the game safe, however, as he fired home from just inside the area as the visitors march on.

New England's seven-game unbeaten streak, which started with a 1-0 win over New York City FC in July, was preceded by a five-match losing run.
