Napoli sign free agent Anthony Reveillere

Napoli manager Rafael Benitez signs former French international full-back Anthony Reveillere on a free transfer to bolster his injury-blighted defence.

Napoli manager Rafael Benitez has addressed his defensive injury problems with the signing of former France international Anthony Reveillere on a free transfer.

The Serie A outfit require cover at the back, with both Giandomenico Mesto and Camilo Zuniga sidelined, and thus Benitez has moved to reunite with a man whom he previously managed at Valencia.

Reveillere has been without a club since ending his 10-year spell at Lyon this summer, and had apparently attracted interest from Cardiff City, Queens Park Rangers and Marseille.

The 33-year-old full-back trained with his new club on Friday afternoon and later tweeted: "I'm really proud to be a Napoli player and thanks to president Aurelio De Laurentiis."

Reveillere made 20 international appearances for France and was a member of their 2010 World Cup squad.
