Napoli close gap on leaders Roma

Napoli edge closer to leaders Roma in the Serie A table with a 2-0 win at home to Torino.

Napoli have closed the gap on leaders Roma in Serie A with a 2-0 win at home to Torino.

The hosts made the breakthrough in the 14th minute when Gonzalo Higuain converted from the penalty spot following Nicola Bellomo's foul on Dries Mertens.

Napoli were awarded a second penalty on 32 minutes after a handball by Kamil Glik, and Higuain made no mistake again from 12 yards.

Rafael Benitez's side had chances to add to their tally during the second half, but Mertens, Lorenzo Insigne and Blerim Dzemaili all failed to find the net.

Torino's afternoon was made worse in the final few minutes as Migjen Basha was shown a straight red card for bringing down Goran Pandev.
