Valenciennes remain unbeaten at home this season after being held to a disappointing draw by 10-man Montpellier HSC at Stade du Hainaut.
The reigning French champions took the lead on 15 minutes when Gaetan Charbonnier found the bottom left corner from just inside the penalty area, following a superb pass from Anthony Mounier.
Gregory Pujol equalised for Valenciennes six minutes before half time, latching onto Anthony Le Tallec's through ball before firing low beyond Geoffrey Jourdren.
Jamelle Saihi was shown a straight red card 12 minutes into the second period for a rash challenge on Gael Danic.
The hosts dominated the match thereafter, but they were unable to test Jourdren in the Montpellier goal, as Le Tallec, Nicolas Isimat-Mirin and David Ducourtioux all spurned decent chances to win the match.
Valenciennes have now scored 14 goals in their last four Ligue 1 games at home.
