Aston Villa forward Ross McCormack has emerged as a transfer target for Australian club Melbourne City, according to reports.
The 31-year-old has netted just three goals for the club since a £12m move from Fulham in August 2016 and had a high-profile falling-out with boss Steve Bruce.
McCormack spent the second half of last season on loan at Nottingham Forest and currently remains on the fringes of the Villa squad, having made just two substitute appearances in the EFL Cup in the present campaign.
According to the Express & Star, however, the former Leeds United and Rangers striker is poised to end his exile at Villa Park by joining the A-League outfit on loan.
The report claims that talks between the two clubs are ongoing and that a deal could be completed within the coming days, should McCormack agree to the move.
Sunderland were reportedly keen on taking McCormack on loan during the summer transfer window but were unable to agree a deal with the West Midlanders.
