Spanish football journalist Guillem Balague has claimed that Manchester United have agreed to pay Ander Herrera's release clause.
The Red Devils made a bid believed to be worth £25m for the 24-year-old on Friday afternoon, which Bilbaorejected.
However, having considered their options, United have now decided that they will meet the clause in the midfielder's contract, which is reported to stand at £30m.
"Herrera will have to pass medical and United pay it all in cash but deal practically done," Balague wrote on the social networking site Twitter.
The former Spanish Under-21 international is now expected to travel to Manchester for discussions over personal terms and a medical examination.
