Manchester United have reportedly been told that they would have to pay £35m to sign Augsburg left-back Philipp Max.

The left-back position has become an issue for United in recent seasons, with Ashley Young the latest to play there after stints from Daley Blind, Marcus Rojo and Luke Shaw.

According to German outlet Bild, Max could be the newest recruit for Jose Mourinho as the manager looks to find a suitable replacement for Young in the position.

The newspaper says that the Augsburg defender, who assisted 12 goals in the Bundesliga last term, would cost around £35m and is admired by Mourinho due to his potential to help the team score goals.

Max spent time with Schalke 04 and in Bayern Munich's academy teams before impressing in his breakout season with Augsburg.
