Tottenham Hotspur confirm that 17-year-old attacking sensation Mikey Moore has signed his first professional contract with the club.

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that 17-year-old attacking sensation Mikey Moore has signed his first professional contract.

The 2007-born protege broke into Ange Postecoglou's squad towards the end of the 2023-24 campaign, becoming Tottenham's youngest-ever Premier League player at 16 years and 277 days against Manchester City.

Moore also made a cameo appearance against Sheffield United on the final day of the campaign, and he sent tongues wagging in pre-season, scoring against Hearts and Vissel Kobe either side of an assist against Queens Park Rangers.

In addition to his rise to prominence at club level, Moore shone at this year's Under-17 European Championships with four goals and one assist, as England reached the quarter-finals before being knocked out by Italy.

The 17-year-old was apparently courted by Manchester United and Manchester City while he was still under schoolboy terms at Tottenham, who made it a priority to tie him down to a professional contract when he turned 17 on August 11.

Moore 'signs three-year Tottenham deal'

One day on from his birthday celebrations, Spurs confirmed that Moore had put pen to paper on his first professional contract with the club, who is believed to have committed his future to Postecoglou's side until 2027.

Under FIFA rules, players under the age of 18 can only sign deals with a maximum length of three years, but BBC Sport claims that Tottenham have offered Moore a lucrative salary reflecting his status as one of their most highly-rated academy products.

With Bryan Gil leaving for Girona and Richarlison's future also being called into question, Moore is expected to play a prominent role in Postecoglou's first team in 2024-25, especially after his strong pre-season work.

The England Under-17 international told Tottenham's media channels that signing his first professional deal was an "unreal" feeling, but he insisted that he has "done nothing" in a Spurs shirt yet.

"Obviously signing my first pro [contract] is kind of the moment you have been waiting for. It's an unreal feeling," Moore said. "It's a big step, but obviously all the boys have welcomed me in.

Moore determined to "stay humble" after contract signing

"It's just about me trying to prove myself really, I've done nothing yet. I have still got a long, long way to go to establish myself as a first-team player, like the rest of them.

"You don't expect to come in and have them (fans) singing your name. I didn't expect it all but appreciate everyone who is supporting it and singing it.

"I think that is the best feeling you can get - when you are playing a football game and you can hear the fans singing your name. No matter what I do in football, I think I always want to stay humble, keeping work. I think that is the main thing as a person. I am still nowhere near where I want to be."

Moore will be pushing to make the Tottenham squad for their opening Premier League game of the season, which comes away to newly-promoted Leicester City on August 19.
