Manchester United have reportedly informed Roma that they want £12.9m for Chris Smalling.
The centre-back joined Roma on loan from United over the summer, and the 29-year-old has made seven appearances for the Italian club at the start of the 2019-20 campaign.
Earlier this week, it was claimed that the Serie A side were confident of completing a permanent deal for the Englishman despite facing resistance from his English club.
According to Sky Sports News, United are prepared to part with the former non-league defender next summer, and Roma have been told that the price for a permanent transfer is £12.9m.
Smalling was a regular for United last season, making 34 appearances in all competitions under Jose Mourinho and then Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The centre-back was deemed surplus to requirements over the summer following Harry Maguire's arrival from Leicester City, though, and he could now he heading to Serie A on a full-time basis.
