Manchester United interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reportedly hopes to strengthen four areas of his squad during the summer if he is named the club's permanent boss.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has reportedly told the Manchester United board that he is after four new players ahead of next season.

The 46-year-old is expected to be confirmed as the Red Devils' new permanent manager in the coming weeks after making a huge impact during his caretaker stint.

Solskjaer has worked miracles since replacing Jose Mourinho in December, dragging United right back into top-four contention in the Premier League and through to the quarter-finals of the Champions League and FA Cup.

According to Metro, however, the Norwegian still has concerns about the quality of his squad and wants a quartet of signings to help mount a title challenge next season.

A right-winger, attacking midfielder, left-back and right-back are all said to have been lined up by Solskjaer, with the recruitment of the latter expected to be made a priority.

United are likely to offload Matteo Darmian and Antonio Valencia in the summer, while Ashley Young will turn 34 later this year.

Solskjaer apparently made the demands during a meeting with his bosses in London last month.
