Report: Manchester United make £56m Edinson Cavani bid

Manchester United reportedly make a £56m bid for Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani.

Manchester United have reportedly placed a £56m bid for Paris Saint-German striker Edinson Cavani.

The Uruguayan joined the French champions last summer, but has been linked with a move away from the club after struggling to secure a regular place in the starting lineup.

According to Italian newspaper Tuttosport, the 27-year-old is at the top of Louis van Gaal's wishlist for this summer's transfer window, resulting in the club making the bid, which would break its record fee paid for Juan Mata earlier this year.

However, Cavani is believed to be keen to remain with a club that will be playing in the Champions League next season.
