Report: Manchester United want Ryan Bertrand

A report claims that Manchester United are preparing a £20m move for Southampton left-back Ryan Bertrand.

Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Southampton left-back Ryan Bertrand.

The Red Devils have struggled with defensive injuries throughout the season, especially at left-back, with Luke Shaw currently joined on the sidelines by Marcos Rojo and Ashley Young.

While Rojo is expected to return in the next couple of weeks, Shaw and Young could both miss the remainder of the season and it is understood that head coach Louis van Gaal will move for a new left-sided full-back this month.

According to the Daily Star, Bertrand, who is said to be valued in the region of £20m, is a target for the 20-time English champions, despite the fact that Saints boss Ronald Koeman recently insisted that no players would be leaving St Mary's this month.

The England international, who can also operate in midfield, joined Southampton from Chelsea last year following a successful loan spell.
