Real Madrid reportedly want to rival Manchester United and sign Napoli's Kim Min-jae following his strong start to the season with Napoli.

Real Madrid are reportedly ready to rival Manchester United in the race to sign Napoli's Kim Min-jae next summer.

The defender has performed strongly this season and now is being courted by some of the biggest clubs in Europe as a result.

According to the The Mirror, United were offered the chance to sign him for £3m last summer but refused, as Fenerbahce completed the deal, before selling him for a 400% profit.

Furthermore, there is a £38m release clause in his contract which could see Napoli vulnerable to bids, with Real and United both looking to move for the South Korean.

The 26-year-old has started all but one of 20 appearances for the Italian club this season, helping Luciano Spalletti's side lead Serie A and remain unbeaten in the league, some five months into the season.

Having seen Kalidou Koulibaly leave for Chelsea earlier this summer, the former Fenerbahce defender has served as a relatively cheap replacement having only cost £16m, and whilst he is contracted to the club until 2025, they run the risk of losing him due to his affordable release clause.
