Manchester United are reportedly preparing a spectacular move for Bayern Munich centre-forward Harry Kane during this summer's transfer window.

Manchester United are reportedly preparing a sensational move for Bayern Munich centre-forward Harry Kane, with the England captain potentially returning to the Premier League in the near future.

The Red Devils attempted to sign Kane from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2023, but he instead made the move to Bayern, and the 31-year-old has managed 73 goals and 22 assists in 77 matches for the German giants.

Kane has been in strong form this season, scoring 29 goals and registering 10 assists in 32 appearances, and he has a contract at Allianz Arena until June 2027, but there has recently been speculation surrounding his future.

Reports in Germany have claimed that there will be a £54m release clause in Kane's contract in January 2026, potentially opening the door for him to return to the Premier League for the latter stages of his career.

According to Fichajes, Man United minority shareholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe views the Englishman as the ideal player to boost a struggling side, and a move could potentially occur during this summer's transfer window.

Man United 'have reignited Kane interest'

The report claims that Paris Saint-Germain are also keen on Kane, but it is believed that the striker would choose to return to the Premier League if given the opportunity.

Kane is the second-highest goalscorer in the history of the Premier League, with only Alan Shearer (260) finding the back of the net on more occasions in the competition than the Bayern striker (213).

It had seemed that Kane had given up the chance to catch Shearer when he left Spurs, but it is not impossible to imagine him having another two or three seasons in the Premier League to chase down the record if a move goes through this summer.

Man United's transfer policy has moved away from signing established stars for big money, but it is believed that Ratcliffe is prepared to make an exception for Kane considering what the forward would bring to the Red Devils.

Should Man United move for Kane?

The 20-time English champions, as mentioned above, are moving away from bringing in established players for huge money and then handing them long-term contracts in the latter stages of their career.

However, Kane remains one of the best strikers in world football, and it would be a huge statement of intent from Man United if they were able to bring in the current England captain at the end of the campaign.

Rasmus Hojlund desperately needs a world-class forward to learn from, and Kane's arrival could also help to bring out the best in the Denmark international, who has struggled badly this term.

Kane managed 280 goals and 61 assists in 435 appearances for Spurs, and he could now return to England for the final stages of his career, with a move to Man United making a lot of sense for all involved.
