Odion Ighalo loan extension 'will cost Manchester United £10.5m'

Manchester United will reportedly pay Shanghai Shenhua a combined fee of £10.5m for Odion Ighalo's loan extension.

Manchester United will reportedly be forced to fork out £10.5m to Odion Ighalo's parent club Shanghai Shenhua after extending the striker's loan deal.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side confirmed earlier on Monday that they have agreed to keep Ighalo at Old Trafford until January 2021.

The Red Devils do not have an obligation to buy the 30-year-old when his loan deal comes to an end, but Solskjaer's side will supposedly still have to pay a hefty amount to keep Ighalo on the books temporarily.

According to the Daily Mail, Shanghai will receive a £6m loan fee while United pay £130,000 of Ighalo's £300,000-a-week salary.

The Nigerian's original loan deal had expired at the end of May, but Ighalo will now be able to see out the remainder of the Premier League season which had been suspended as a result of the coronavirus outbreak.

Ighalo has netted four times in eight matches across all competitions for United since his arrival.
