David Moyes dismisses Wayne Rooney exit talk

David Moyes rubbishes Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho's suggestion that Manchester United may attempt to sell Wayne Rooney "to a non-direct rival" at the end of the season.

David Moyes has dismissed Jose Mourinho's suggestion that Manchester United may attempt to sell Wayne Rooney abroad at the end of the season.

Mourinho, who tried to sign Rooney last summer, does not think that the Red Devils will allow the England striker to join another top Premier League club.

However, the Chelsea boss said earlier this week: "I think maybe this summer they will try to sell to a non-direct rival."

United manager Moyes has now responded by saying: "I can only tell you that I disagree - although he will go to Brazil [to play in the World Cup]."

Rooney, who has been sidelined with a groin injury since New Year's Day, has 18 months remaining on his current contract at Old Trafford.
