Jose Mourinho wanted to sell 'mentally weak' Anthony Martial at Man United?

Former Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho allegedly wanted to sell Anthony Martial during his time at Old Trafford.

Jose Mourinho allegedly wanted to sell Anthony Martial during his time as Manchester United manager.

The forward is currently regarded as first choice by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, starting in each of the club's opening three Premier League fixtures of the new campaign.

However, according to The Times, Mourinho did not become an admirer of the France international while he was at Old Trafford between 2016 and 2018.

The report claims that Mourinho has doubts over Martial's character, feeling that the attacker is 'mentally weak' and unable to deal with the ups and downs of life at the North-West giants.

Martial had seemed likely to leave United earlier this year, only for the two parties to agree terms over a new long-term contract.

The 23-year-old has contributed 36 goals from 116 outings in the Premier League since September 2015.
