Mourinho: 'I will not cry over transfers'

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho insists that he 'will not cry' if he doesn't get his final transfer wish this summer.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has insisted that he will not 'moan or cry' if the club do not sign any more players this summer.

The Portuguese told reporters today that he had informed executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward of his desire to strengthen in four key positions ahead of the new season.

United have since delivered on three of his requests, bringing in Romelu Lukaku, Victor Lindelof and Nemanja Matic, but leaving Mourinho still in need of a wide player.

"In my initial analysis from January and through the months I was thinking of four players but I'm not a difficult person to work with in spite of if you make it look different," he said at his pre-match presser. "I understand the reality of the market, the numbers and my club by doing 75% of what I asked, the club did well.

"I don't think I'm in a position of crying, moaning, protesting. I'm not in a position to say I'm not happy. I'm happy with the club's efforts. If the remaining 25% don't arrive I will not moan, I will just go with everything I have to try to win every match I play.

"We got a central defender that can play in many other positions, which is important. We got a central midfielder, a striker, obviously the 25% would be for a player from the sides, but we have players.

"If we cannot strengthen the team in these areas we have players that we can trust."

Mourinho, whose side begin the season at home to West Ham United on Sunday afternoon, has also confirmed that the club are in talks with Zlatan Ibrahimovic over a new deal.
