Manchester United are reportedly considering whether to make a January approach for Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria.
As it stands, the Switzerland international intends to depart the Bundesliga outfit on a free transfer at the end of the season.
However, given the amount of clubs who are interested in the 25-year-old, the option remains for Monchengladbach to cash in during the current transfer window.
According to The Mirror, United are contemplating whether to take that approach to the scenario, rather than waiting to tempt Zakaria into a move to Old Trafford in the summer.
The report suggests that United may be able to get a deal over the line for £25m, a figure that many of their Premier League and European rivals will not be prepared to pay at the midway point of the campaign.
Liverpool, Arsenal, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Juventus are all said to be monitoring the situation.
